Plants are one of my favourite sources of inspiration, and it's always wonderful to visit different outdoor spaces. During the school holidays we had a great day out at the National Trust Speke Hall (Northwest England). Here there are spectacular gardens, woodland, and an impressive Tudor manor.
The kitchen garden is home to some colourful specimens. I was quite taken with the globe artichokes.
The huge monkey puzzle trees in the main garden are fascinating with their spikey trunks and branches. What great pattern inspiration!
And the woodland trail is full of surprises, including a family of giants living there! There are huge shoes, button, books and more scattered among the trees. Great fun for kids and adults alike.
